The Mount Sinai Health System is currently seeking full-time General Ophthalmology Physicians to join its practice in Brooklyn!

Mount Sinai Doctors Brooklyn Heights is a multi-specialty practice in Brooklyn dedicated to providing exceptional "whole person" healthcare. The large multispecialty practice is located at 300 Cadman Plaza West, Brooklyn, NY 11201 serving a diverse community. The practice is in the heart of Brooklyn Heights, which is a short walk to DUMBO, downtown Brooklyn, Cobble Hill, and Carrol Gardens offering an endless array of restaurants, nightlife, and shopping.

Position Description:
Initially, your duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Working full time (1 FTE Clinical), providing General Ophthalmology care at Mount Sinai Doctors Brooklyn Heights.
In collaboration with our multi-specialty team, the position offers an opportunity to build an ophthalmology practice with a diverse patient population in a large, busy multi-specialty practice. The practice is dedicated to the highest quality care and to promoting continued education in its staff while playing an integral role in Mount Sinai's efforts to establish an outpatient hub in Brooklyn. The role is 100% outpatient with phone call to cover non clinic hours. There are no research and administrative responsibilities, but physicians have the opportunity to be involved in PI and QA initiatives.

These duties may be modified from time to time by your Chair/Chief/Director based on Institutional needs.

Specific Responsibilities:
1. Reviewing with the Medical Director and Director of Operations, all individuals requesting a Hospital/School appointment in the Section of Ophthalmology at the Mount Sinai Doctors Brooklyn Heights location.
2. Work with the Medical Director and Director of Operations in monitoring the quality and appropriateness of Ophthalmology care at Mount Sinai Hospital when rendered by physicians with clinical privileges on the Service and Department of Ophthalmology training programs.
3. May recommend and assist the Medical Director or Director of Operations in the development of policies and procedures that encompass patient care, patient safety, etc. in compliance with accepted standards, regulatory agencies governing health care delivery and the guidelines/rules of accrediting bodies for the Mount Sinai Doctors Brooklyn Heights location.
4. Serve on Department Committees as assigned by the Medical Director or Director of Operations, setting agenda, organizing meetings, following up on recommendations and disseminating information.
5. Assist the Medical Director or Director of Operations to ensure that the quality and appropriateness of clinical care are monitored and evaluated and that appropriate action based on findings is taken when necessary.
6. In concert with other members of the Department, participate in improving patient satisfaction through the Press Ganey initiatives and monitoring patient satisfaction reports and results. Helps to develop plans by which the Department physicians can contribute to improvement of patient satisfaction with clinical services in all Mount Sinai's health care facilities.
7. Recommend and assist the Medical Director and Director of Operations in developing, implementing and updating strategic long-and short-range plans to support the Department's philosophy and goals.
8. Meet with Hospital and Nursing leadership to review all areas related to quality and appropriateness of patient care and other similar issues and metrics they may arise.

Position Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree from an Accredited University
  • New York Medical License/Active NYS DEA
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in General Ophthalmology

Mount Sinai Health System provides a salary range to comply with the New York City law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialties, historical productivity, historical collections, and hospital/community need. As such, an actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of the range, and in certain circumstances, may wind up being outside of the listed salary range. The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not include bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits.
