The Institute for Critical Care Medicine of the Mount Sinai Health System seeks dynamic fellowship-trained Intensivists to join its faculties in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (in conjunction with the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine) and Rapid Response Team service at the Mount Sinai Hospital site!

While working in collaboration with several consulting practitioners, as well as several other administrative staff members, the ideal candidates will play an instrumental role in ensuring excellent patient care, quality outcomes, and satisfaction as well as oversee other inpatient services. In addition, we would like our talented physician candidates to have a passion for academic, inpatient medicine and be fully committed to mission of Mount Sinai Health System. Candidates should have either completed or be enrolled in a Critical Care Medicine or Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowship or equivalent and must be Board Eligible or Board Certified in Critical Care Medicine/Equivalent. Physicians with residency training in Internal Medicine or Emergency Medicine are encouraged to apply.

Academic appointments are through the Icahn School of Medicine, one of the top medical schools in the country. Interested candidate must have a good record of accomplishment in teaching and mentoring fellows, residents, and medical students. An academic area of interest or a focus on research is a plus. There is an opportunity for a leadership role for applicants with the requisite experience.

CLINICAL EXPECTATION:

  1. To provide state-of-the-art, evidence-based, critical care in the Mount Sinai Hospital Medical ICU and on the Rapid Response Team (RRT), and Night Intensivist Coverage Service (NICS) by investigating, diagnosing, and treating acutely ill patients. This may include performing treatments and procedures at the bedside, such as, airway maintenance/ intubation, bronchoscopy, cardioversion, point of care ultrasound, central line insertions, ACLS, and others in order to manage critically ill patients in the ICUs.
  2. Full-time intensivist clinical duties include a mix of day and night shifts. The Institute for Critical Care Medicine provides 24/7 intensivist coverage across Mount Sinai Health System. Appointment as Assistant/Associate Professor is determined based on eligibility.

QUALITY EXPECTATION:

  1. Obtain exceptional clinical outcomes by promoting safety and quality through evidence-based medicine and excellent multidisciplinary communication. Focus on reducing the length of stay and excess days in patients with respiratory failure and tracheostomy.
  2. Adhere to the patient safety and quality goals of the Institute for Critical Care Medicine, including CLABSI and CAUTI prevention initiatives, exceptional hand hygiene compliance, equitable care practices for Mount Sinai's diverse patient population, and unit-specific quality projects and programs.

EDUCATION EXPECTATION:

  1. Teach evidence-based medicine to critical care fellows, medical students, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. Educational activities may include teaching at patients' bedside, in a classroom environment or via Vodcast and/or developing a simulation curriculum.
  2. Lead by example and mentor critical care fellows, residents, nurse practitioner, and physician assistants on clinical projects and career goals.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree from an accredited university
  • New York State Medical License
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Critical Care Medicine

Compensation range from 300K to 375K (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits)
