Job Description:
Position Summary
The Nursing Assistant/Unit Receptionist/Monitor Tech reports to the department director, assistant director, and charge nurse.
The Nursing Assistant/Unit Receptionist/Monitor Tech is responsible for:
- Cardiac monitoring of all patients on monitor including rhythm, rate and alarms.
- Performs clerical and receptionist duties related to assigned department.
- Responsible for providing nursing assistant care to assigned patients. Collect and document vital signs, assist with activities of daily living, and comfort measures as assigned.
- Provides customer service that exceeds expectations, demonstrates a positive attitude, utilizes resources efficiently, and performs related duties as needed.
- Performs duties according to the policy and procedures of CHOMP and the department under the direct supervision of an RN.
Experience
Must demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology, computer order entry applications, and surgical scheduling knowledge. Working knowledge of general office and computer skills to carry out essential duties of this position is required, as well as the ability to read, analyze, and understand surgery schedules and physician orders. Good knowledge of interface between physician's office, acute hospital operating room, nursing units, outpatient surgery departments, ancillary departments, and scheduling required. Excellent interpersonal, communication, customer service, and organizational skills required. Acute patient care experience within the past (3) three years preferred. Cardiac monitoring skills are required.
Education
High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent work experience in related field preferred. A Certified Nursing Assistant course or relevant work experience is required.
Must pass orientation and initial competency assessment prior to independent assignment of patients requiring the applicable skill, and must complete and pass all annual competencies.
Licensure/Certifications
American Hospital Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.
