Overview:
The Mercy St. Louis Sports Medicine Sports Residency is a clinical and on-field training program for physical therapists seeking to specialize in sports physical therapy. Provide services regarding prevention, recognition, evaluation, immediate care and rehabilitation for all active individuals and sports-related injuries. The individual will also demonstrate professional development and responsibility. The incumbent will perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of American Physical Therapy Association accredited physical therapy program.
Licensure: State of practice license (or eligible) for Physical Therapy.
Certifications: Mercy Health System approved Professional Rescuer CPR
Other: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: This individual must be trained and capable of performing patient care and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed.
Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: Clinical and/or Outreach Athletic Training settings. The individual must be very adaptable and willing to work occasional odd hours. There will be occasional weekend work and travel required throughout the year.
Equipment Used: Therapeutic Modalities, Thermal and Electric Modalities, Computer, Dictaphone, Cellular Phone, Therapeutic Equipment.Sports Residency Specific The Mercy St. Louis Sports Medicine Sports Residency position is a full-time position, one year (12 months) in duration. Approximately 70% of that time is spent providing clinical care to athletes and mentorship. The remaining 30% is spent on athletic sports coverage and additional educational experiences.Serves on committees as requested.A competitive salary and benefits package will be provided for the Sports Resident.Completion of research or other projects as outlined in the requirements for the specific residency program.
