Who We Are:
L&B is located on the 1st, 6th and 7th floor of the Children's Tower. We provide care for Birth Giving People ranging from low-risk/low-intervention deliveries to high-risk antenatal care and delivery. The L&B/OB ED/High Risk units are staffed around the clock, 24/7 with in-house Board-Certified OB Hospitalists, OB Anesthesia and highly skilled nursing and surgical staff with full coverage Maternal Fetal Medicine availability. Typical nurse patient ratios are 1:2 in these units with high-risk ratios of 1:1 based on acuity. Nurse Residency offered for New Grads and New-to-Labor RNs. This dynamic program combines immersive simulation-based training, classroom lectures led by experienced clinical educators, and structured hands-on, on-the-unit preceptorship. Nurse Residents will gain critical clinical skills, confidence, and a strong foundation for a successful nursing career in a supportive, hands-on learning environment. Nurses are required to have NRP certification and ACLS certification. Labor RNs must have Intermediate Fetal Heart Rate training or will get trained to have such knowledge. National Certification in Obstetric Care (RNC- OB) and Certified-Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) is encouraged. A high percentage of L&B RNs working in the Mercy L&B/High Risk units are nationally certified in their specialty.

Qualifications:
- Required Education: Nursing Degree from an accredited school
- Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Preferred Experience: Patient Care Technician (PCT, CNA, Nurse Extern) experience
- License: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association
