Overview:
The Manager of Quality provides leadership and directs work efforts associated with quality and risk management program activities such as quality assurance, patient safety, peer review, public reporting, regulatory and accreditation readiness, patient relations and performance improvement.
The manager acts as the Risk Manager within the framework of the Risk Management Program. The manager enhances clinical risk reduction and patient safety by identifying, analyzing, and mitigating risks. Additionally, the manager fosters continuous improvement and a just culture by concentrating on minimizing system-related errors and unsafe conditions.
In collaboration with Ministry leaders, the manager provides strategic direction and oversees clinical quality initiatives including planning, design, development, implementation and evaluation of quality-related projects and programs.
The manager ensures appropriate, accurate and timely measurement and reporting of clinical quality and patient safety practices throughout the facility. Provides guidance and structure for holding coworkers and facility accountable to achieving performance goals. Promotes cooperation and sharing between quality departments across the ministry.
The Manager of Quality will perform duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 5+ years experience in clinical healthcare related experience; 1-3 years in clinical quality improvement, patient safety or risk management experience.
- Required Education: Bachelors Degree (healthcare related field)
- Preferred Education: Masters Degree
- Certifications: Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) is preferred.
- Other Skills & Knowledge: Ability to lead and work collaboratively with a variety of groups. Excellent communication skills and high emotional intelligence to effectively interact with all levels of Caregivers from senior leaders to front-line coworkers. Ability to present complex information concisely and clearly for all levels of the organization. Proficient in data analysis and decision support, including demonstrated capabilities with analytical and presentation software. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
