Overview:

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care under the supervision of person(s) licensed by a State regulatory board to prescribe medication and treatment, or under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse (RN). Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.
  • Comparable education and licensure may be considered.

Licensure

  • Must hold a current LPN license in the state where nursing duties are performed.
  • Responsible for maintaining licensure and meeting all State Board of Nursing requirements.

Experience

  • Open to both new graduates and experienced LPNs.

Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required within 30 days of hire.
  • Depending on the unit or position, one or more of the following certifications may be required at hire or obtained within a department-specific timeframe:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • PEARS (Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization)
    • S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, and Emotional Support)
    • Six Assessment & Care Modules
    • Other unit-specific certifications as applicable

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Prolonged standing and walking during shifts
  • Must be able to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
Preferred Qualifications

Education & Licensure

  • Additional nursing education or certifications beyond minimum requirements

Experience

  • Prior experience in a clinical or patient care setting

Certifications

  • IV Certification within one year of hire

Physical Requirements

  • Same as listed above under minimum qualifications
