Find your calling at Mercy! Our Med Surg Service Line offers a dynamic environment where you'll gain experience across 8 specialty units, caring for patients with a wide range of diagnoses and needs. These units support patients preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions, giving you the opportunity to build a strong foundation in diverse clinical skills.

While you'll have a home unit, we believe in cross-training to broaden your expertise and confidence in caring for patients with varying conditions, comorbidities, and procedures. Whether you're a new graduate looking to launch your nursing career or an experienced LPN seeking variety and growth, Med Surg is the perfect place to thrive. Position Details:

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program; Consideration will be given for comparable education experience and successful licensure.

  • Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining a current LPN license within the hiring state in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all State Board of Nursing requirements.

  • Certification:NOTE: one or more of the certifications below may be required based on the position/unit hired to, or acquisition of certification within department required timeframe:

    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

    • PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization)

    • S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support) Six Assessment & Care Modules

    • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire

    • IV Certification within 1 year of hire

    • Other unit-specific certifications as required.
