Overview:
Responsible for the integrity of trauma registry data: collection, entry, completion, analysis, reliability, and validation of all entries for patients meeting trauma registry inclusion criteria as required to support operations, quality/performance improvement measures and outcomes, and research for the Trauma Services Department.
Qualifications:
- Experience: ICD-10CM and CPT coding education. • Successful completion of the American Trauma Society (ATS) registrar exam.• Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR).• Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine (AAAM) injury scale coding exam.• Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. • Knowledge of data abstraction techniques. • Knowledge of AIS (abbreviated Injury Scale) and ISS(Injury Severity Score)
- Required Education: Associate's degree in health-related field or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree as outlined below. Experience: • One year trauma registry database and medical record review experience. • In lieu of degree, 3 total years of applicable experience will be considered.
- Certifications: Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT). Skills, Knowledge Abilities:• Knowledge of and ability to use computer software programs including Microsoft Office, database management, and report-writing. • Knowledge of registry maintenance and regulations associated with trauma registry. • Ability to organize, prioritize and work independently. • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with team members.
