Find your calling at Mercy! This positionserves as the coding lead for the Coding Supervisor/Manager. Supports the Coding Supervisor/Manager in daily coding activities including productivity monitoring, scheduling, coding edit/charge review, failed claims/follow-up resolution, training, education, research, etc. Works with Coding Supervisor/Manager to ensure that coding meets all regulatory and compliance guidelines. Additionally, the Coding Specialist Lead will be the primarytrainer and mentor for new coders. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. Position Details: Education: High school diploma. Licensure: None. Experience: At least 5 years of coding experience in ICD-10-CM diagnoses/procedures coding and/or HCPCS/CPT procedure coding in an acute care or professional services setting. Working knowledge of MS-DRG, APC, or MPFS/RVU payment method. Certification/Registration: Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), CertifiedProfessional Coder (CPC), and Certified Radiology Cardiovascular Coding (CIRCC). Other Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Advanced working knowledge and a high level of experience withthe ICD-10-CM, and/or CPT/HCPCS codingclassification systems, MSDRG's, APC's, MPFS/RVU's, POA's, HACs; dependent upon whether and Inpatient, Outpatient, or Professional Service coder. Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, and/or pharmacology. Excellent written/oral communication skills as well as the ability to multi-task. Preferred Education: A.S. from an accredited Health Information Technology Program or B.S. from an accredited Health Information Management program or associated healthcare discipline. Preferred Licensure: None. Preferred Experience: 6 or more years of recent coding or consulting experience in inpatient/outpatient acute carehospital setting or professional services. Preferred Registration: None. Preferred Other Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Management/supervisory experience and auditing experience. 3M encoder and Epic systemfamiliarity also a plus. Why Mercy?
