Overview:
This individual is responsible to food production in all areas of the department. A knowledge of all methods of cookery is required for this position. The individual must be able to produce a quality, eye appealing product within an allotted amount of time. Performs related duties as assigned.
Job Description:
ResponsibilitiesRepresents Mercy and the department in a positive manner by following all Mercy Service Standards with dealing with customers.Successfully completes Serve Safe Certification within the first six months of employment and maintains current certification. Presents food products and displays in a visually pleasing manner.Maintains work area and displays in a clean and sanitary state.Demonstrates proper portion control.Maintains accurate and adequate records as required by policy and procedure.Knows methods of short order cookery.Demonstrates the ability to implement basic cooking processes such as chopping, slicing, steaming, grilling and re-heating.Follows department approved recipes when preparing products.Demonstrates proper measuring and weighing techniques during food preparation and presentation.Demonstrates the use and cleaning of all kitchen equipment.Provides timely communications related to needed items and products via email. Demonstrates proper setup and take down of catering events. Performs additional duties as assigned. Wears clothing and Health System badge consistent with dress code, and attends to personal hygiene to maintain a clean, well-groomed appearance. Observes universal precautions consistently. Meets Health System attendance standards.Qualifications:
- Preferred Experience: Food Handler within 180 days.Experience: 2 or more years of food service experience
- Preferred Education: High school diploma or its equivalent.
- Preferred Certifications: Serve Safe Certification
- Other: Skills, knowledge and abilities: Excellent integrity Takes initiative Good moral character Effectively communicate in English, both orally and written Basic Math Skills Time Management Skills Great interpersonal skills Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: Equipment Used: All food preparation equipment including oven, grill, chopper, slicer, blender, mixer, and steamer Also able to push, pull and grip 50 pounds and pinch 10 pounds.
