Position Overview:
The Clinical Pharmacist plays a vital role in ensuring safe and effective medication use. This position oversees the preparation, dispensing, and verification of medications, monitors patient therapy, and serves as a trusted resource for patients and healthcare professionals. The pharmacist will identify and resolve medication-related issues, collaborate with physicians, and supervise pharmacy support staff to maintain timely and accurate service delivery—all while adhering to established policies, protocols, and regulatory standards.

Pharmacy Services

  • Oversee preparation, labeling, dispensing, and delivery of medications.
  • Review and verify medication orders for accuracy in dose, schedule, route, and potential contraindications, interactions, or allergies.
  • Intervene with prescribers to resolve and prevent medication-related problems; document interventions in the pharmacy system.
  • Ensure accuracy of compounding and preparation by pharmacy technicians prior to distribution.
  • Prioritize workflow to meet patient and departmental needs efficiently.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff in the absence of the manager.
  • Provide medication therapy management, including patient assessment and therapy recommendations.
  • Educate patients, families, and healthcare professionals on medication use and safety.
  • Respond to complex inquiries regarding drug therapy and adverse reactions.

Training & Development

  • Participate in orientation and training for pharmacists, technicians, residents, and students.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through education and professional activities.
  • Foster a collaborative environment by welcoming feedback and contributing to team success.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited School or College of Pharmacy.
  • Licensure: Current pharmacist license from the applicable State Board of Pharmacy.
