Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, collaborative continuous improvement professional. This position provides the unique opportunity to become a part of a dynamic, energic Central Improvement Team; focusing on engaging and inspiring enterprise-wide businesses and functions to adapt and leverage continuous improvement as part of our operational culture, with emphasis on the deployment and execution of Lean and Six Sigma concepts and methodologies. This position will have a significant impact on the overall organization's system sustainability and reliability.
The selected individual will report to the Director, Performance Excellence and will be responsible for managing the transformation specialists on leading a wide array of cross-functional, continuous improvement initiatives with varying risks, constraints and challenges, and will be empowered to focus on value creation, waste elimination and financial savings to meet organizational strategic goals and objectives. This individual will be responsible for collaborating with the organization's leadership and other key stakeholders at all levels to drive change and improve operational effectiveness and efficiency. The selected individual will provide coaching and guidance on Lean Six Sigma (LSS) initiatives through facilitation and deployment of related principles, methodologies, tools, and techniques, and will be advancing change management through the organization's culture. The selected individual must also demonstrate ability to coach and collaborate with leaders in major system-wide process improvements through continuous improvement and agile project management methodologies to breakthrough silos and to generate competitive differentiation to grow Mercy Fort Smith as a highly sustainable and reliable organization. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy's mission, value, charism and service standards.

Qualifications:

Because you're committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That's why you'll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:

  • Education: RN or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Engineering or related field required. Master degree is preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of related continuous improvement experience is required and 2-3 years previous supervisory is preferred. Experience applying principles, methodologies and tools critical to continuous improvement, but not limited to, including change management, Kaizen, value stream mapping, DMAIC, root cause analysis, Hoshin planning, A3 problem solving, process redesign, data analysis, SPC and other lean techniques. Ability to lead by example, define roles/responsibilities, motivate and set strategy as well as present appropriate materials to executives and council. Strong aptitude for critical thinking and a passion for improvement. with proven ability to identify and resolve problems, plan and conduct complex project assignments and prepare reports/presentations.

  • Certification: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (GB) is preferred with minimum 3-5 years practicing continuous improvement and willingness to work towards the BB certification or equivalent quality and process improvement certification (i.e., CPHQ) is desired. Prior experience leading large scale and cross functional projects a plus. Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (BB) strongly preferred.

  • Other: Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively articulate and present complex ideas and information. Demonstrate leadership and project management skills. Strong analytical skills to conduct and interpret both quantitative and qualitative data necessary in finding creative solutions to difficult and complex problems. Must have the ability to learn and do statistical analyses or be skilled in statistical analysis. Results-oriented change agent who is an effective systems thinker and strong facilitation skills. Ability to manage risk and ambiguity on projects and to re-engineer processes to positive impact productivity in terms of timeliness and accuracy. Excellent PC skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Microsoft Project is required, Minitab skills preferred. Ability to travel up to 25% and meet early mornings and evenings.
