General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is currently seeking a Wellness Program Coordinator to join our team at MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital. This position is for experienced trainers to coordinate the implementation of effective evidence-based fitness classes as part of the MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital adaptive fitness program. 

As a Wellness Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for the maintenance of the MedStar Adaptive Fitness program according to department standards and established safety protocols. Additionally, you will participate in Community Adaptive Fitness activities, providing organizational support, including, but not limited to trainer education and meetings.

Primary Duties: 

  • Facilitate transition to the adaptive fitness program for inpatients and outpatients including education, coordinating participant schedules and activities.  

  • Provide education and training to all participants and caregivers to ensure successful and safe participation. Ensure logistical support needs are provided for delivery of fitness program.  

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of fitness participation numbers and survey results. Assist in organizing comprehensive reports and other written documents in a timely manner. Provide monthly progress reports in the attainment of program objectives and quarterly participation records. Collect and compile data as indicated for program needs. 

  • Demonstrate consistent teamwork within the adaptive fitness program and the Therapeutic Recreation department. Provide quality care established guidelines regarding safety, confidentiality, and appropriate paperwork. 

  • Demonstrate effective time management and meet productivity expectations. Maintain accurate schedules for fitness program. Ensure necessary supplies and equipment available for fitness. Is timely, punctual, and prepared. 

 

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's degree in related field OR combination of post-secondary education.

  • 3-4 years' experience- at least 2 years' experience in disability and adapted sports/fitness.

  • 1-2 years' experience in personal training preferred. Preference given to focus on adaptive fitness.  

  • NASM-Fitness Instructor Certification or equivalent.

  • AHA Heart Saver Card.


This position has a hiring range of $42,785 - $75,441
