General Summary of Position
Responsible for providing high-quality patient service, administrative support, and financial administration for the daily operations of medical practice. Responsible for coordination and supervision of front desk staff.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Acts as a backup resource for administrative support positions within the practice.
  • Assists in the selection, training, orienting, and assignment of department staff. Assists with the development of standards of performance management and the annual associate review process.
  • Assures the proper accounting of hours worked and paid time off.
  • Coordinates and supervises front desk staff and workflow. Prepares associate work schedules and arranges for adequate coverage to maintain optimum patient service.
  • Demonstrates behavior consistent with MedStar Health mission, vision, goals, objectives, and patient care philosophy.
  • Implements, monitors, and reinforces MedStar Health and MedStar Medical Group policies and procedures.
  • May initiate or make recommendations for personnel actions in consultation with the Practice Administrator and HR.
  • Oversees and audits the balancing of cash receipts and preparing the daily deposits and end of shift reconciliation in the Practice Management System.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees, and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.
  • Performs all user audits and functions related to staff inputting data into the Practice Management System.
  • Performs assigned audit functions to ensure data is properly communicated to the billing company.
  • Recommends new or modified policies and procedures to reduce cost, improve staff performance and optimize patient service delivery. Works with the Practice Administrator to modify and streamline work flows and improve other processes to create an efficient practice.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely management and time and attendance records for associates.
  • Reviews encounter forms daily for completeness and correctness. Addresses coding problems with providers. Alerts Practice Administrator if additional coding training is needed.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • High School Diploma or GED required

    Experience

    • 2 years supervisory experience in an ambulatory care setting required and
    • 3-4 years Health care experience to include revenue cycle operations required

    Licenses and Certifications

    • No special certification, registration or licensure required

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
    • Basic computer skills preferred.


    This position has a hiring range of $23.19 - $40.61
