General Summary of Position
The Senior Employee Relations Specialist serves as a strategic advisor and thought leader, driving a culture of trust, accountability, and organizational excellence. This role plays a critical part in shaping employee relations strategies that align with business objectives, addressing complex workplace concerns, managing high-impact employee relations initiatives, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and corporate policies. As a senior-level expert, this position leads investigations, provides advanced conflict resolution, and delivers proactive solutions to mitigate risks while fostering a positive and inclusive workplace environment. The Senior ER Specialist partners closely with senior leaders and HR teams to guide decision-making, ensure consistent application of policies, and champion equitable treatment across the organization. Demonstrating advanced strategic thinking and the ability to navigate ambiguity, the Senior ER Specialist anticipates challenges and proposes innovative approaches to elevate workplace relationships and employee engagement. This role is instrumental in driving cultural transformation, promoting organizational resilience, and enabling the achievement of both employee and business success.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide Strategic Employee Relations Support and Leadership Coaching:Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and stakeholders, delivering expert employee relations guidance, fostering organizational alignment, and building leadership capability at all levels.
  • Policy and Compliance Oversight:Lead the interpretation and application of complex employee relations policies, procedures, and federal and state labor laws, ensuring compliance while adapting to evolving legal landscapes and organizational priorities.
  • Risk Mitigation and Strategic Decision-Making:Champion a risk-aware culture by identifying and addressing potential employee relations risks proactively. Provide senior-level insights to influence practical, balanced decisions that align with organizational values and compliance standards.
  • Performance Management and Leader Enablement:Guide leaders in managing and resolving complex performance and behavioral challenges through strategic documentation, coaching, and monitoring to ensure consistent and equitable outcomes.
  • Advanced Conflict Resolution and Facilitation:Lead high-stakes conflict resolution efforts, mediating sensitive issues and facilitating constructive dialogue to achieve sustainable resolutions that support organizational objectives.
  • Governance of Employment Decisions:Oversee the decision-making process for terminations and other employment-related actions, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and organizational policies while minimizing legal risks. Escalate critical matters to ER leadership as appropriate.
  • Leadership in Investigations:Manage and oversee sensitive, high-impact investigation caseloads, ensuring timely and thorough fact-finding, stakeholder engagement, and objective recommendations that support organizational integrity and trust.
  • Compliance Expertise and Proactive Advisory:Stay at the forefront of labor and employment law trends, providing strategic insights and guidance to mitigate risks and enhance compliance across the organization.
  • HR Leadership and Advocacy:Serve as a senior tier of the employee relations team, exemplifying ethical leadership, fostering trust, and driving a culture of inclusion, accountability, and continuous improvement.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Bachelor's degree Human Resources, Business or a related field required

    Experience

    • 5-7 years Resolving complex employee relations issues, conducting highly sensitive workplace investigations and resolving high stakes conflicts required

    Licenses and Certifications

    • Professional in Human Resources (PHR)-HRCI within 1-1/2 Yrs required

    • Expert Knowledge of Employment Laws and Regulatory ComplianceDemonstrates advanced expertise in federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as regulatory requirements related to employee relations, ensuring proactive risk management and organizational compliance in a dynamic legal landscape.

    This position has a hiring range of $80,995 - $152,027
