We are looking for a physician assistant to join our Breast/Plastic Surgery team at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center. Our exceptional Breast and Plastic surgeons, as well as advanced practice providers, treat a wide range of patients with breast cancer as well as breast disease and patients at high risk for breast cancer. Using a multidisciplinary approach, we partner with colleagues from disciplines including medical oncology, radiation oncology, rehabilitation, and imaging as well as dietitians, and social work to develop highly individualized care plans that treat the whole patient. This approach provides patients with high-quality care that is unmatched in our service area.
The PA in this role will be working with our surgeons to provide early diagnostic care, pre-op education, post op care and long-term follow-up care to our program. The responsibilities of this individual will be in the outpatient setting, OR, and inpatient areas. They will support the surgeons as well as establishing their own clinic to see patients at high-risk for breast cancer, conduct patient consultations, assessments, follow-ups, and collaborate on treatment planning and patient education. The role would also require performing procedures in the office, such as aspirations and I&D for example. Inpatient duties can include rounding and ED consults. In the OR the PA would assist the attending surgeon on a variety of cases to include laceration repair, wound closures, breast reconstruction, etc.
The schedule for this role will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm excluding holidays or weekends. There are some meetings that begin at 7:30 am – generally not more than once every two-three months and some cases when assisting in the OR start at 7:30 am.
Breast and Plastic surgery or breast health experience preferred but not required. New grads are welcome to apply.
