General Summary of Position
Come grow with us! MedStar Health is recruiting for a Pharmacy Operations Manager to help support and oversee our retail pharmacy locations. The majority of the time will be spent in our Baltimore locations, but candidates must have flexibility to also travel locally throughout Maryland and DC as needed. Ideal candidates will have pharmacy experience, but please note that the budgeted salary for this position would not be able to meet the typical salary range/expectations for a licensed Pharmacist. Licensed pharmacy technicians with 5+ years leadership experience are encouraged to apply.
Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of multiple Pharmacies with specific focus in the areas of associate engagement, patient experience, and volume growth. Ensures the optimum performance of assigned MedStar Pharmacy teams through effective hiring, coaching, mentoring, and managing. Works in coordination with the Management Team to achieve companywide resource efficiencies, alignment of priorities, and achievement of established goals.
What you will do
- Adheres to regulatory guidelines in patient care, administration, human resources, and billing. Oversees regulations associated with the Board of Pharmacy, Department of Health, HIPAA, OSHA, EEOC, FMLA and all other state and federal regulatory agencies.
- Assists with the creation of operational policies and procedures as they relate to the provision, improvement, and standardization of pharmacy services across the Pharmacy chain. Provides ongoing training as new policies or procedures are implemented or updates are made and monitors for compliance.
- Determines cost effective equipment, supply, and service alternatives, coordinates with the hospitals for consistency of vendors, obtains quotes, and makes recommendations for purchases as needed.
- Ensures patients and guests have a superior experience, and that assigned sites achieve their patient experience goals. Role models service behaviors and develops those skills in the team. Performs service recovery, resolves conflicts, concerns, and complaints. Monitors patient experience surveys, communicates results, and implements action plans for improvement
- Establishes and communicates the site staffing schedule with adequate advance notice for employees. Consistently modifies staffing levels to assure that the site is patient responsive but fiscally responsible. Adjusts staffing in accordance with fluctuating volume or associate callouts or absences.
- Identifies and pursues new areas of business opportunity within the facilities, facilitates and maintains collaborative internal partnerships to ensure maximum prescription volumes and capture rates, checks in for internal stakeholder satisfaction. Represents Pharmacy in public relations functions or marketing opportunities in the community or around MedStar.
- Manages the performance of assigned teams, sets individual goals, provides regular coaching and feedback, completes performance evaluations and corrective actions, creates improvement and / or development plans, and overall ensures that employees are performing at optimal levels.
- Provides oversight of daily pharmacy operations, directs workflow patterns, ensures daily responsibilities are carried out by assigned staff, monitors, and manages productivity, maintain appropriate and adequate inventory, and resolves issues requiring management intervention.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- 5-7 years management experience in a health care setting, with pharmacy experience strongly preferred
- 2 years of multi-site management experience preferred
- Effective verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and independent judgment skills required
- Ability to work independently and part of a team
- Advanced computer skills and supervisor experience required
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
