Under the direction of the Regional Medical Staff Operations (MSO) Director, responsible for the administrative duties required in the Medical Staff Operations processes. The MSO Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring seamless administrative support for the medical staff office. This position is responsible for assisting and managing initial and reappointment files for monthly committee review, maintaining compliance with credentialing standards, and assisting with a variety of MSO administrative tasks. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment, demonstrates exceptional organizational skills, and takes pride in contributing to the operational success of the healthcare team. Works in a team environment within the department and with the Medical Staff offices. Serves as a liaison between MedStar Health-affiliated hospitals, Medical Staff Administration offices, Central Verification Offices (CVO), MedStar Medical Group, and MedStar Family Choice.
Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required and
  • Associate's degree preferred and
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience
  • 3-4 years Experience in medical staff credentialing or a related healthcare administrative role. required
  • One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred
  • Certified Medical Professional Services Management (CPMSM) preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of general office practices and software applications (MS Office) and database management.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage demanding workload; self-motivated; able to carry out responsibilities with minimum supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and credentialing software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills are necessary to interact with providers and both external and internal customers.
  • Possesses excellent command of English; verbal, written (to include grammar and spelling), and reading comprehension.

  • Assists with the preparation and review of initial and reappointment credentialing files for monthly committee meetings.
  • Ensures files meet compliance requirements and organizational standards.
  • Assists in the coordination of monthly committee meetings, including agenda preparation and documentation.

  • Assists the Regional MSO Director with various administrative duties to support departmental operations.
  • Maintains and update databases, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of medical staff information.
  • In conjunction with the Regional MSO Director and Administrative Managers act as a liaison between the medical staff, committees, and administration to facilitate efficient communication and problem resolution.
  • Provides timely responses to inquiries from medical staff and other stakeholders.
  • Stays informed about regulatory requirements and organizational policies related to credentialing and medical staff operations.
  • Supports audit preparations and assist in maintaining documentation for compliance purposes.
  • Serves as a liaison with MSH affiliates and their medical staff administration departments, MMG and MFC, which includes providing effective and timely communication as the status of the application and any issues that may be identified.
  • May process initial/re-credentialing applications for those applications that have been deemed fast-track" applications.
  • Maintains competency on nationally recognized credentialing-related initiatives through participation with NAMSS and MAMSS, journal articles, and other industry-related news.
  • Maintains competency on the credentialing database via participation in online education learning modules and monthly skills-related webinars.
