General Summary of Position

Intermediate Care (IMC) – MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital

Step into a dynamic care environment where you'll bridge the gap between the ICU and general medical-surgical floors. Our IMC team delivers advanced nursing care to patients with complex medical needs in a collaborative and supportive setting.

Unit Highlights

·       36-bed intermediate care unit serving a diverse medical population

·       Advanced care modalities:

       - Respiratory support (BiPAP, CPAP)

        - Cardiac and insulin drips for complex management

·       Dedicated support staff, including:

        - Assigned Telemetry Technicians for real-time cardiac monitoring

         - On-unit Respiratory Therapists for seamless interventions

·       Collaborative nursing team focused on teamwork, growth, and continuous learning

·       Flexible scheduling to support work-life balance

Key Responsibilities

Deliver skilled nursing care to patients and families with needs ranging from uncomplicated to highly complex. Identify and analyze changes in patient status, address evolving problems, and plan appropriate interventions—delivered directly or coordinated through collaboration with the nursing team.

Qualifications

·       ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing

·       Prior clinical nursing experience preferred

·       Active MD RN or Compact RN license required

·       Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification
