General Summary of Position

Job Summary: 

The Equipment Supply Coordinator coordinates the procurement and management of supplies and equipment for the assigned nursing unit(s). Develops processes to systematically manage necessary items for specific units. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards. 

 
Primary Duties: 

 

  1. Coordinates and monitors the utilization of supplies and equipment for the assigned nursing unit(s). 

 

  1. Maintains designated stock items and provides appropriate feedback to nursing management regarding low/high par levels, the status of items that need to be ordered. 

 

  1. Develops processes to ensure effective inventorying and maintenance of all supplies and equipment. 

 

  1. Sets up and maintains various databases/records to better track, monitor, and forecast/trend usage of supplies and equipment.  

 

  1. Orders special medical supplies and rental equipment, as needed or required for the various nursing units.  

 

  1. Processes purchase requisitions and records proper vendor, product information, cost center, and account code numbers.  

 

  1. Ensures proper cleaning of post case equipment by the Suite Attendants, personally cleaning as necessary in preparation for next use. 

 

  1. Coordinates the repair of specific equipment with Biomedical Engineering. Ensures appropriate preventive maintenance of equipment and actively participates in clinical trials evaluating new equipment and medical products. 

 

  1. Coordinates and facilitates communication between nursing units, and other hospital departments, to purchase, utilize, and distribute inventory items for the designated nursing units more effectively. 

 

 

Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's Degree preferred. 

  • 3-4 years Related hospital experience required in stockroom/central supply or materials management/purchasing areas required. 

  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques and sterile storage requirements; Experience in Nursing Units preferred.
