General Summary of Position

This analyst is responsible for the build and maintenance of the Epic OpTime surgery module.

Responsible for design, implementation, and maintenance of, Epic solutions. Supports requirements definition, process and use documentation, product testing, product troubleshooting, product upgrades, and report development.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • As required for Epic solutions, performs duties required to back up and/or monitor application assets to ensure continuity in service.
  • Monitors and tests the ongoing production performance for Epic solutions to ensure appropriate operations in terms of response time and storage capacity.
  • Creates ad hoc and standard reports utilizing various report writers or other tools to meet customer needs. Assists and guides users in developing ad hoc reports.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of project management principles and tools in support of application tasks and/or projects. Assists with special projects. Adheres to PMO standards for documentation.
  • Develops and maintains user and application support documentation to stimulate optimal use of applications. Develops and updates support documentation in designated documentation repositories.
  • Develops tests scenarios and test plans. Performs the testing of software updates/fixes and routine maintenance. Validates that systems operate and perform properly through the controlled unit, system, integration, and volume testing.
  • Provides IT input to business processes to aid in the process redesign. Advise on new information technology functionality focused on increased efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of the process.
  • Exhibits a working knowledge of current technology, trends, and/or developments in the healthcare industry in order to serve as a resource for the I.S. department and customers.
  • Has a basic understanding of and provides support for Epic integration of applications within and beyond the corporate computing environment.
  • Participates in the management of application database(s), as required for Epic solutions. Assist with maintaining data dictionaries and master files. Monitors file size and integrity. Assist in the periodic review/use of software with customers and vendors to evaluate software utilization. Trains associates in maintenance procedures.
  • Performs problem analysis in support of decisions and planning for Epic solutions. Analyzes the impact of application modules on departments and service lines. Assist in the development of solutions to meet project objectives. Collaborates with vendors, Information Services associates, and users in troubleshooting problems and resolving software or procedural issues.
  • Provides general support to customers within and beyond the corporate organization in the implementation and operational use of software applications. Assists customers and vendors by addressing information needs related to software performance and requests.
  • Skilled in Microsoft applications and other presentation tools to effectively communicate ideas, data, and recommendations.
  • Supports the implementation of improvements, enhancements, and updates to Epic solutions. Analyzes the impact of application modules on departments and develops solutions to meet project objectives. Participates in the requirements analysis, functional specification definition, and project work plan designs.
  • Participates in meetings and on committees and supports the department and hospital in community outreach efforts. Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
  • Required on-call support to include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Frequency of rotation will vary depending on need/size of department. Must be willing to carry a cell phone and be available for 24 x 7.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science required
    • One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

    Experience

    • 3-4 years 4 years related technical experience preferably in a healthcare or business environment required and
    • Experience in systems analysis/development, customer service, vendor interaction, and information systems required
    • One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.

    Licenses and Certifications

    • EPIC - EPIC Certification required Epic certification(s) must be obtained within ninety (90) days from last class completion within 90 Days required

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Analytical ability to solve technical problems.
    • Competent in microcomputing including desktop applications, project management, and communication and emulation applications.
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively interface with internal/external customers.
    • Understanding of information systems and their impact on customers.


    This position has a hiring range of $80,995 - $152,027
