Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Nursing Practice Innovation for MedStar Health and working in collaboration with our Chief Nursing Officer, the Director of Nursing Practice Innovation will lead the integration and advancement of evidence-based nursing practice across our hospital. This role will support MedStar's Nursing Strategic Plan and provide guidance on patient-centric care, professional governance, and clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guide and sustain the adoption of the MedStar Health Nursing Care Delivery Model.
- Lead implementation of evidence-based practice standards and guidelines.
- Champion local Nursing Practice Councils and collaborate with system-wide governance groups.
- Serve as a thought leader in the Nursing Practice Innovation Committee and other key system-level initiatives.
- Partner with nursing educators, informatics leaders, and clinical teams to drive practice improvements.
- Mentor clinical nurses and support nurse-led initiatives that improve outcomes and elevate the patient experience.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Nursing required; Doctor of Nursing Practice or advanced practice degree preferred.
- Current RN licensure in Washington, D.C.
- National specialty certification (or ability to obtain within 1 year).
- At least 5–7 years of clinical nursing experience with 2+ years in leadership or management.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply research to clinical practice and quality improvement.
