General Summary of Position

Are you an experienced Nurse Educator looking for a unique and rewarding opportunity? MedStar Health is seeking a dedicated and visionary Clinical Nursing Instructor to join our Academic Practice Partnerships team. As a member of the Division of Nursing, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of patient care and student development.

Position Overview
The Clinical Nursing Instructor functions within the roles of educator, facilitator, change agent, consultant, researcher and leader. The Clinical Nursing Instructor is responsible for teaching within the accelerated BSN nursing program of designated university affiliation and managing university/community educational affiliations that enhance performance, promote professional development or otherwise supports the mission and vision of the Department of Nursing (DON). 

Department Highlights
The Academic Partnerships team acts as the liaison for all academic programs at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. They oversee the clinical relationships with undergraduate and graduate nursing programs and are responsible for all clinical nursing practicums and fellowships.

Key Responsibilities
Demonstrates the clinical expertise, leadership, management, communication skills and knowledge of education theory and principle necessary to develop academic courses/educational programs and achieve optimal educational outcomes.
Identifies, coordinates, and plans didactic and clinical education for student nurses as assigned by the university program coordinator and MWHC Program Director. Utilizes teaching techniques that promote critical thinking and evidence-based practice incorporating principles of adult learning theory.
Participates as education expert on committees, task forces, focus groups and projects to support Department of Nursing initiatives.
Plans and conducts orientation and on-going meetings with university/community affiliates that facilitates university/community personnel acclimation to the MWHC clinical environment and compliance with hospital policies and procedures in conformance with departmental objectives and accreditation standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in nursing (Required), master's degree in nursing, Healthcare, or Business Administration (Required)
Active DC RN License
5-7 years of progressively responsible job-related experience in nursing (Required)
1-2 years of teaching experience in a BSN program (Required)
