General Summary of Position
Performs a variety of administratively related support functions for nurse retention & engagement and nursing quality improvement under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Practice Innovation, Director of Nursing Professional Development, and Nursing Retention, Engagement, and Recognition Specialist. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities


  • Performs data analysis, interpretation, and visualization: Uses basic statistical techniques to describe data. Uses the results of statistical techniques to evaluate data. Uses comparative data to measure or analyze performance. Analyzes clinical outcome data. Interprets benchmarking data. Interprets data to support organizational planning and decision making.
  • Serves as a resource for staff in relation to issues of data collection, management, analysis and interpretation. Works with nursing leaders to generate ad-hoc reports and analyses.
  • Performs routine administrative functions in support of the department, including but not limited to: preparing and disseminating information for committee meetings (agendas, reports, minutes)
  • Assists with the development, appraisal, and implementation of strategies required for the achievement of organizational goals and objectives.
  • Stays informed about health care and nursing trends and issues, as well as issues concerning nurses in the hospital, and assist in creating solutions.
  • Reports on performance analytics and offers recommendations to drive future business strategy.
  • Partners with Nursing Leadership to develop & implement university recruitment strategy.
  • Plans and manages events, including recruitment sessions, retention events, and celebrations.
  • Supports nurse externship program to coordinate logistics, track conversions, produce reports, and other support as needed.
  • Use statistical knowledge and attention to detail to maintain workforce and Magnet data.
  • Prepares and analyzes reports and information for internal and external audiences.
  • Maintains data security in accordance with industry and MedStar Health standards.

    Minimal Qualifications
    Education

    • Bachelor's degree Bachelor of Art or a Bachelor of Science required and
    • Master's degree Health Administration, Business or similar preferred

    Experience

    • 3-4 years Comparable administrative experience required and
    • Previous statistical data analysis and work in a large complex nursing environment preferred

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Ability to manipulate and analyze large volumes of statistical data, ability to work well with a variety of different personnel.
    • Ability to type between 55-60 words per minute.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, file maintenance, and facility with Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe.
    • Other database management and spreadsheet application knowledge preferred.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks to produce results by established deadlines.


    This position has a hiring range of $65,062 - $117,291
