General Summary of Position
Senior Level Gift Officer who can independently be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of major gift prospects scaling over time to annual fundraising expectation of $4M-$10M.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages a portfolio of major gift prospects.
  • Develops and implements thoughtful, strategic cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans for prospective donors for gifts of $1M+.
  • Ensures regular contact with donors through various activities and communications, especially face to face meetings.
  • Identifies and develops joint major giving opportunities in collaboration with colleagues and team members.
  • Creates positive donor relations by providing technical support and options regarding planned and deferred gifts.
  • Develops and manages timelines for various fundraising activities to ensure plans and critical fundraising processes are carried out in a timely manner.
  • Develops expertise in strategically aligned priorities of the healthcare system. Assists physicians, program directors and administration with capital and programmatic funding needs.
  • Manages internal and external key stakeholder relationships.
  • Utilizes effective leadership skills to mentor, guide, supervise, manage, and further develop skills and abilities with other colleagues throughout the MedStar Philanthropy Group.
  • Meets annual activity and financial performance metrics.
  • Ensure that all donor contact is reported in the CRM.
  • Supervises team, as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare or related field required

    Experience

    • 5-7 years of experience in healthcare philanthropy, ideally within a health system setting required

    Licenses and Certifications

    • Certified Fund Raising Executive - CFRE International CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive) or CFRE eligible preferred

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated success in soliciting, negotiating, and closing gifts.
    • Experience with planned giving.
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Acumen to engage and support senior leadership, staff, and volunteers in fundraising.
    • A high level of professionalism, creativity, and integrity coupled with an ability to earn the confidence of a wide range of constituencies and develop relationships with key stakeholders.
