General Summary of Position

The Administrative Assistant - DC Community Wellness Center plays a key role in supporting the daily operations and outreach efforts of the center. This position provides administrative and clerical support to the on-site associates, ensuring smooth coordination of programs, events, activities and initiatives. Key responsibilities include scheduling and managing appointments, preparing and maintaining documentation, assisting with event logistics, handling incoming communications, and serving as a welcoming point of contact for community members and partners.

This is an onsite role Monday - Friday 8:30am-5:30pm at the MedStar DC Community Wellness Center located at 3924 Minnesota Avenue, Washington, DC.  


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides calendar management and meeting coordination, which may include, updating calendar activities, scheduling meetings, preparing in-person and virtual meetings, and other clerical responsibilities.
  • Provide administrative support to AVP, Growth and Member Experience
  • Acts as a support for Member Experience team by preparing, updating forms, reports, and records on a routine basis.
  • Assist with data entry and updating participant information in relevant databases.
  • Greet and assist enrollees, community members, visitors, and staff in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Receives and direct telephone calls, answers inquiries, and disseminates information in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Provides record keeping support to include preparing/submitting check requests, ordering and tracking office supplies, and storing other departmental or organizational forms.
  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Coordinates service and repair requests with IS staff and Telecommunications Dept. Prioritizes requests based on needs of the department.
  • Participates in meetings and on community committees to represent the DC Community Wellness Center.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives by maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • High School Diploma or GED required and
    • Associate's degree preferred
    • Vocational/Technical Diploma Business courses or administrative/secretarial training preferred
    • One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

    Experience

    • 1-2 years Clinical or office experience required and
    • 1-2 years Experience working in healthcare or community outreach settings. preferred
    • One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Strong communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Organized, detail-oriented, and committed to promoting health and wellness in underserved communities.


    This position has a hiring range of $20.17 - $35.04
