MedStar Washington Hospital Center— a proud Magnet® designated academic medical center — is seeking an experienced and passionate Clinical Nurse Educators to join our Division of Nursing. Position Overview

The Nurse Educator acts as a clinical consultant and resource while closely collaborating with Nursing leaders, clinical specialists, physicians, preceptors, nursing staff, students, and external agencies. In this pivotal role, you will design and implement orientation and career advancement programs, lead research initiatives to enhance clinical practices, foster effective relationships across departments and institutions, utilize advanced teaching methods to educate and mentor individuals and groups, and oversee educational and quality improvement programs for our dedicated staff and students. We are currently seeking candidates with experience in the following areas:

  • Medical Surgical/Cardiac
  • Peri-operative and Procedural Areas

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Designs, implements, and evaluates designated learning and educational programs and consultative services. Assesses learning needs through formal and informal approaches to data collection to determine specific education needs of associates.  
  • Applies teaching techniques that promote critical thinking and evidence-based practice incorporating principles of adult learning theory.
  • Plans and conducts orientation of new personnel to facilitate a new associate's transition to the practice environment and meeting competency assessment requirements in conformance with departmental objectives, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
  • Identifies and assesses learning needs and knowledge or skill gaps that require remediation and collaborates with unit leaders to promote critical thinking and competent patient care delivery.
  • Collaborates with other departments, experts, and leaders, both internal and external to MedStar Health, to obtain information needed to purse development of relevant learning programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required (Master's Preferred)
  • Active DC RN License
  • Experience in teaching or professional development preferred
  • Three or more years' Experience in the specialty area(s) is also required

 


This position has a hiring range of

USD $87,318.00 - USD $157,289.00 /Yr.
