General Summary of Position
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse performs selected patient care activities and participates in the multidisciplinary treatment plan for adolescent adult and geriatric patients admitted to the Behavioral Health Inpatient unit. Participates in activities which promote individual and professional development and achievement of unit and hospital goals and objectives

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
• Demonstrates knowledge of psychosocial growth and development throughout the life span of the patient.
• Utilizes the dynamics and components of interpersonal relationships therapeutically and assists in the assessment of the psychiatric educational psychosocial environmental spiritual and cultural needs of the patient.
• Meets 1:1 with assigned patients during the shift and documents this interaction in the medical record.
• Charts factually and concisely and takes responsibility for making entries into records in correct sequence and according to hospital policy and procedure. Participates in patient care and unit staff meetings.
• Reports changes in patient's behavior and other pertinent information to the charge RN and to other team members.
• Can lead all patient groups and co-lead group therapy with RN or case manager.
• Assists in patient and room searches.
• Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of restraint techniques and aggression management procedures.

Minimal Qualifications
Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mental Health or related field required

Experience

• 1-2 years related experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• CPI Certification within 1 Year required
• Recertification every 2 years required
• CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required
• Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
