Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Board-Certified Academic Internist to join our esteemed academic faculty in the Section of General Internal Medicine at Medstar Washington Hospital Center located in the heart of Washington, D.C. This is an exciting opportunity for an internist to practice in a collaborative environment, providing top-notch outpatient care with a few weeks of inpatient ward teaching attending responsibilities while engaging in resident teaching, scholarly activities, and mentorship. The position offers the perfect blend of clinical practice, education, and research in one of the nation's most vibrant and historic cities.

 

About the Practice

You will be joining a well-established group of 9 physicians and 2 nurse practitioners, all committed to delivering excellent patient care and advancing medical education. Our outpatient faculty practice serves a diverse patient population, and you will have the opportunity to build long-term relationships with patients while being involved in resident clinic precepting.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Outpatient Care: Provide high-quality care in an academic outpatient setting, with a focus on comprehensive internal medicine practice.
  • Resident Precepting: Supervise and mentor medical residents in our clinic setting, fostering their clinical skills and professional development.
  • Inpatient Teaching: Participate in 4 to 8 weeks per year of inpatient ward teaching, serving as an attending physician to residents.
  • Didactics: Lead and contribute to educational activities, including didactic sessions, case presentations, and medical rounds.
  • Scholarly Activities: Engage in research, quality improvement projects, and other scholarly endeavors with residents and faculty. Opportunities for publishing and presenting at national meetings are available.

Qualifications

  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency
  • Active medical license or eligibility for licensure in Washington, D.C.
  • Strong interest in teaching and mentoring residents
  • Dedication to delivering exceptional patient care in an academic setting
  • Ability to engage in scholarly activities and contribute to academic pursuits

In addition to the base salary, you are eligible for the signing bonus and quality and productivity incentive compensation outlined above.  


This position has a hiring range of

USD $200,000.00 - USD $220,000.00 /Yr.
