MedStar Washington Hospital Center, the largest hospital in the Washington, D.C. region and a national leader in trauma and emergency care, is seeking a Burn Program Manager (RN) to provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for our multidisciplinary Burn Center.
As one of the busiest and most advanced burn programs in the nation, our center delivers expert care across the continuum, supported by robust quality infrastructure, American Burn Association (ABA) alignment, and regional emergency preparedness leadership. This role is pivotal to advancing our mission of excellence in clinical care, education, research, prevention, and community engagement.
Role Overview
The Burn Program Manager partners closely with the Burn Director and internal/external stakeholders—including physicians, nursing teams, allied health, EMS, and regional agencies—to lead program verification, burn registry operations, quality improvement initiatives, financial planning, billing optimization, professional education, research compliance, and burn mass casualty preparedness.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate burn program operations across the care continuum, including clinical protocol development, outcomes monitoring, and registry oversight.
- Drive quality and process improvement through chart reviews, peer review coordination, committee leadership, Vizient/Vizient filter reporting, and regulatory submissions.
- Serve as Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS) Coordinator and Instructor, managing professional education programs such as seminar series, journal clubs, and inter-facility training.
- Lead ACS/ABA verification and re-verification processes, including the Pre-Review Questionnaire (PRQ), site visit planning, and compliance reporting.
- Optimize revenue through professional billing strategy, physician education on coding changes, lean purchasing oversight, and philanthropy/grant partnership.
- Provide direct leadership and development support for the Burn Data Coordinator and Burn Outreach & Education staff.
- Represent MedStar's Burn Center regionally and nationally through committee membership and conference engagement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN)
- 3–4+ years of progressively responsible clinical or program leadership experience
- Demonstrated expertise in burn registry databases, quality improvement, finance, spreadsheets, and performance monitoring
- Registered Nurse licensure in the District of Columbia

USD $89,065.00 - USD $162,801.00 /Yr.
