Performs a primary or supporting role in the monthly close process. Completes operational procedures to administer the financial aspects of fully-insured and self-insured related products.
This position has the option to work at home; Seeking applicants who reside within a 50 mile radius of the Brooklyn office location.
Responsibilities
Staff Accountant I
- Reconciles assigned general ledger accounts ensuring the accuracy of reported balances. Researches any reconciling items and takes necessary action to correct these items.
- Prepares monthly general ledger journal entries that impact assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Staff Accountant II
- Analyzes general ledger account activity compared to prior period and/or forecast. Researches and explains variances.
- Reconciles complex general ledger accounts ensuring the accuracy of reported balances. Researches any reconciling items and takes necessary action to correct these items.
- Assists in preparing components of the corporate forecast and/or financial statements.
- Prepares monthly general ledger journal entries that impact assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Staff Accountant I
Education & Experience
- Bachelors' Degree with Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or related field preferred, but will consider collective experience, training, and education.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
- Beginning knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and ability to apply the appropriate accounting standards to the relevant job duties.
- Intermediate MS Office skills, including MS Access.
Staff Accountant II
Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree with Accounting, Finance or Business Administration major.
- 1 year of progressive work experience as a staff accountant including experience with journal entries and account reconciliations.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
- Beginning knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and ability to apply the appropriate accounting standards to the relevant job duties.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills including Access.
