Title and Summary

Vice President, Software Engineering Overview
The Networks Exchange team in Core Payments is looking for a Vice President, Software Engineering to lead the modernization of Mastercard's Networks Exchange (NEx) platform, driving transformation across core switching, settlement, and dispute management systems. This role is pivotal in architecting and delivering scalable, secure, and future-ready solutions that align with Mastercard's strategic objectives for speed, resilience, and innovation.

Role
Define and execute a multi-year roadmap to migrate legacy systems (e.g., IST Switch, CMS settlement) to modern architectures leveraging cloud-native, API-driven, and microservices-based designs.
Oversee critical initiatives such as Linux migration, in-house settlement system development, and integration of automation and DevOps capabilities.
Establish engineering standards for scalability, security, and compliance while introducing advanced practices like CI/CD, containerization, and observability.
Partner with Product, TPM, and Infrastructure teams to ensure alignment on modernization priorities, cost optimization, and customer onboarding acceleration.
Build and mentor high-performing engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, operational resilience, and robust risk controls throughout modernization efforts.

All About You
Proven experience in leading large-scale modernization programs within payment networks or similar high-availability platforms.
Expertise in distributed systems, API development, and secure transaction processing.
Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at executive levels.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field; advanced certifications in architecture or cloud technologies preferred.
