Title and Summary

Vice President, Data Engineering Overview:
Mastercard is seeking a Vice President, Data Engineering to lead the vision and execution of our Cloud Data Initiatives. This role is an opportunity to push the boundaries of innovation, enabling best-in-class data product solutions that harness the power of Mastercard, third-party, and partner data. The challenge will be to dynamically deliver value in the near term while developing capabilities and process that lay the groundwork for the future. Your roadmap will enable a frictionless customer and developer experience, exposing data components for direct to customer use or as components for new product constructs.

Role:
• Lead the design of new data capabilities and infrastructure related to accessing and using Mastercard, third party, and partner data to power Mastercard data products and solutions.
• Design data pipelines, transfers, and compliance frameworks to enable cloud-native data usage.
• Identify data-related capabilities and infrastructure requirements resulting from new and evolving product constructs and how those requirements can be developed cloud natively.
• Understand the Services business strategy, information infrastructure and data needs for both new and existing products and services across various product initiatives.
• Collaborate with relevant data management, governance and technical teams to enable long term viability of information assets and enterprise requirements.
• Develop and implement a horizontal technology roadmap in conjunction with Data Strategy & Management team input to meet enterprise-wide stakeholder needs.
• Identify existing data capability and infrastructure gaps or opportunities within and across initiatives and provide subject matter expertise in support of remediation.

All About You:
• Proven experience as a Data Engineer, Data Architect, Software Engineer, or in a related role, with a strong preference for expertise in data engineering/architecture.
• Knowledge of AI/ML, analytics, and data product development, including analytical models and model governance.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like Databricks, Snowflake, Azure, and AWS, with deep architecture-level understanding.
• Familiarity with big data ecosystems and enterprise-scale implementations of Hadoop and Spark-based solutions.
Expertise in designing scalable, compliant data infrastructure in cloud environments.
• Proficiency in data hygiene processes, anonymization techniques, and identity resolution capabilities.
• Strong knowledge of industry best practices for data collection, usage, and governance.
• Ability to create and implement data strategies that align with business goals and support organizational growth.
• Exceptional project management skills with a demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. O'Fallon, Missouri: $200,000 - $320,000 USD Arlington, Virginia: $230,000 - $368,000 USD Purchase, New York: $230,000 - $368,000 USD
