Overview:
Mastercard's Services team is responsible for safeguarding trust in payments, both now and in the future. We ensure that transactions and interactions are safe, simple and smart. The Card & Payment Ecosystem Security organization within Services is responsible for developing and managing cybersecurity solutions that help build trust in the Mastercard ecosystem while increasing Mastercard's posture as a leader in the cybersecurity industry.
About the Role:
Mastercard is using global threat intelligence to secure today's digital economy – in the payment ecosystem and beyond. The Sr. Data Analyst in Payment Threat Intelligence will leverage advanced data querying and analysis skills to analyze payments data, detect fraud trends, and deliver actionable insights to strengthen product performance. This role will report to the Director of Payment Threat Intelligence Operations & Strategy and work closely with the global product and data science teams.
Role & Responsibilities:
Execute and optimize complex SQL queries on large-scale transactional datasets using Hadoop-based data platforms.
Support ad hoc investigations driven by analyst research and fraud detection efforts
Apply payments and fraud expertise to interpret data patterns and inform strategic decisions
Develop and maintain metrics and dashboards to monitor key performance indicators
Surface insights such as month-over-month changes in payment fraud activity
Communicate analytical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating insights into actionable recommendations
Optimize metrics reporting workflows and support data integrity, including automation and collaboration on data discrepancies
All About You
Advanced in SQL and experienced with data query and management tools such as Hadoop
Skilled in data optimization, analysis, and the creation of clear, actionable metrics reports
Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with exceptional attention to detail
Adept at translating complex data into meaningful insights and identifying key patterns, including potential fraud indicators
Experienced with dashboarding and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Domo, Splunk, MixPanel) to support data-driven storytelling
Effective communicator and presenter, able to craft compelling narratives and deliver insights to both technical and non-technical audiences
Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for reporting, visualization, and presentation development
