Principal, Platform Architecture Overview
The Network Architecture & Strategy team is seeking a highly skilled Principal Network Architect to play a pivotal role in defining and driving our network strategy. This role involves leading the design and implementation of innovative network solutions that align with our strategic objectives, ensuring scalability, security, and operational efficiency.
We are looking for a visionary leader who is passionate about technology and customer experience, with the ability to anticipate future needs and drive strategic initiatives. Role
Lead Strategic Network Architecture: Develop scalable, secure, and resilient network architectures aligned with business objectives for a global enterprise.
Drive Innovation and Emerging Technologies: Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to keep Mastercard's network infrastructure at the forefront of industry advancements.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering, application, and operations teams to ensure network architectures meet performance, security, and operational needs.
Automation and Efficiency: Develop automation strategies to streamline deployments, improve efficiency, and enhance operational excellence.
Continuous Improvement and Optimization: Optimize existing network platforms, driving innovation and continuous improvement for performance and cost-efficiency.
Industry Standards and Best Practices: Communicate strategic vision, incorporating industry standards and best practices into network initiatives.
Trend Awareness and Competitive Edge: Stay informed on emerging trends such as AI, cloud networking, and SDN to ensure Mastercard's architecture remains competitive

All About You
The ideal candidate for this position should have:

Education:
• Accredited recognized education in computer science, math or engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
• Proven track record in leading large, cross-functional network domain initiatives and providing project direction and technical expertise.
• Extensive experience managing global technology domains and sub-domains, ensuring operational and strategic success.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with leaders in the technical community to derive new solutions and align with future business network requirements.
• Expertise in evaluating and selecting innovative technologies that adhere to industry trends and drive business objectives forward.
• Strong understanding and hands-on experience with key networking technologies, including:
o BGP and Advanced Routing Protocols for scalable and reliable connectivity.
o SD-WAN solutions to enable flexible, secure, and optimized network performance.
o Cloud Networking (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) for multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud integration.
o CLOS Architecture for data center spine-leaf designs ensuring high performance and scalability.
o Wireless Technologies (e.g., Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 7) and IoT Networks for edge and device connectivity.
o Datacenter Technologies, including VxLAN, spine-leaf designs, and network virtualization.
o Security Technologies, such as firewalls, IPSec VPN, and zero-trust architecture.
• Experience developing and implementing network automation strategies using tools like Ansible, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines to improve efficiency and reduce deployment time.
• Familiarity with designing and optimizing global enterprise networks with a focus on redundancy, resiliency, and scalability.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align technical strategies with organizational goals.
• Ability to stay ahead of emerging trends, including AI/ML-driven network optimization, SDN, and edge computing, ensuring the organization remains competitive and innovative.
