Mastercard's Dispute Management solutions aim to solve consumer disputes and improve the payment experiences for consumers, issuers and merchants. With more digital transactions, the need to manage chargebacks is becoming increasingly important. We aim to improve purchase transparency and simplify the dispute process to protect business revenues and grow customer satisfaction.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Principal Software Engineer in Disputes Management, you will play a critical role in leading the design, development, and implementation of our next generation regional and global platforms. You will have the opportunity to work on complex and innovative projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive technical excellence and deliver high-quality, proactively adding scalability while continuing to add enhanced value to these products.

The Principal Software Engineering role will ensure these products continue to meet the high expectations from our customers by notably improving existing functionality, updating stale or outdated functions,

Role:
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of software engineers, guiding them in best practices, and problem-solving.
Designing and developing complex software architectures using Java and microservices.
Setting architectural goals, assigning tasks, and providing guidance and support to team members.
Overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of software architecture projects.
Designing highly scalable, fault tolerant, and performant systems On-Prem and in Cloud.
Supporting services before they go live through activities such as system design consulting, capacity planning and launch reviews.
Maintaining services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.
Identifying and mitigating risk(s) associated with solution architecture and technical designs.
Practicing sustainable incident response and blameless post-mortems
Ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Creating technical specifications, conducting architectural reviews, and ensuring adherence to design principles and best practices.
Driving innovation by identifying new architectural patterns and methodologies to improve software systems.
Conducting experiments, simulations, and analyses to develop new architectural solutions.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product management, development, , corporate security, and operations, to align architectural efforts with business objectives.
Coordinating with external partners and stakeholders to leverage additional expertise and resources.
Testing and validating architectural designs to ensure they meet required standards and specifications.
Analyzing data, writing technical reports, and presenting findings to stakeholders.
Implementing process improvements and staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in Java, microservices, and software architecture.

All About You:
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering
Several years of experience in software architecture and lead engineering positions.
Strong leadership and management skills.
Excellent problem-solving and technical skills.
Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Proven ability to manage multiple high priority demands while driving consistent results
Ability to work as a member of a diverse and geographically distributed team.
Expert knowledge of software development principles, design patterns, and best practices
Expert knowledge of Advanced Java, Spring Framework, Persistence technologies, Performance tools, and Testing frameworks
Strong knowledge of Cloud providers (PCF, AWS, Azure), Containers and Container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
Knowledge of Messaging technologies (e.g. Apache Kafka), high volume batch processing technologies (e.g. Apache Spark) a plus
Understanding of Application Programming Interface (API) standards and experience cataloguing to drive API/service adoption and commercialization.
Proven track record of designing and developing large-scale, enterprise-grade software solutions.
