Title and Summary
Manager, Software Engineering Overview:Mastercard's Paprika team, part of the Portfolio Intelligence Program, is seeking a Manager, Software Engineering to join our fast-growing Services organization. In this leadership role, you will guide a team of skilled engineers as we rebuild a core fintech product that harnesses cutting-edge analytics, modern software architecture, and the latest web technologies. This next-generation platform enables clients to extract actionable insights from massive datasets—empowering them to make high-impact, data-driven business decisions.
As part of the Portfolio Intelligence team, you will apply your leadership and full-stack development expertise to build, deploy and scale real-time, interactive applications used by thousands of clients worldwide. These applications empower users to benchmark portfolio performance, track KPIs, and generate insightful dashboards and reports using Mastercard's rich data assets.

Engineers work in small, flexible teams. Every team member contributes to feature design, building, and testing. The range of work you encounter varies from front-end web development to writing server-side calculation code to database work. There are no rigid organizational structures at Mastercard; each team uses processes that work the best for that team's members and projects.
This is a hybrid role based in Arlington, VA, requiring three days per week onsite.
Role:
• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of full-stack software engineers.
• Design and deliver scalable, modular, service-oriented software systems.
• Guide architecture decisions and ensure adherence to development best practices.
• Own and evolve key components of the analytics platform with a focus on performance, quality, and maintainability.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership, including code reviews and design discussions.

• Drive the roadmap for a suite of web applications that deliver powerful business insights
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Software Delivery, Security, Privacy, and Product Management.
About You:
• Previous experience as Software Engineer, Developer or Architect with experience as Manager mentoring software engineering teams.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, React, PostgreSQL; experience with Snowflake is a plus.
• Deep knowledge of full-stack development, microservices, and modern web technologies.
• Skilled in designing scalable APIs, high-performance systems, and data-centric applications.
• Agile methodologies experience.
Demonstrated skills in managing projects, people, and tasks across multiple geographies and business units.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Finance, or Business. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
