Manager, Software Engineering Overview:

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join Mastercard on the Clearing - Mastercard Transaction Stream team. We facilitate billions of transactions among issuers, acquirers, and service providers worldwide. We are looking for talented software engineering leaders to develop advanced technologies and applications that revolutionize payments.

Role:

Be the servant leader for a cross-functional team of Software Engineer, Tester, Technical Program Manager, and Product Manager-Technical roles

Recruit and hire the right talent, always bringing in someone better than at least half the individuals in the role

Work closely with product, vendor, and architecture teams on product definition, technical design, and overall execution

Serve as a technical resource for team members and mentor junior engineers

Critically review code, design, and implementation guiding the team with a focus on improving quality

Play a key role in shaping the direction of engineering processes through working with small teams empowered to organize and run the team as they see fit

Department-wide public speaking and other communications conveying application level directions

Coach and guide employees within own team(s). Ensures own team(s) growth, compliance to goal setting and performance appraisal process

Have strong ownership of your team's software and are deep in the maintenance characteristics, runtime properties and dependencies including hardware, operating system, and build

Demonstrate ability to confidently and quickly make a decision is the face paced environment in order to maintain the ability of rapid development and deployment of new coding changes

Coach your team on Agile practices; including standup, retrospectives, planning, and grooming sessions to operate and thrive as a high-performing team

Own senior management communication and interaction for delivery, support, and issues

About You:

Degree in Computer Science or related field

Experience managing, coaching, and guiding high performing Agile software development teams both technically and professionally

Experience developing software with modern technology stack (Java, Spring Boot, JUnit)

Experience in CI/CD with a strong focus on the engineering efficiency
Motivation, creativity, self-direction, and desire to thrive on small Agile teams

Experience solving and implementing scalable solutions to solve complex problems

Familiarity in modular design using and creating single-responsibility services and APIs

Strong analytical and excellent problem-solving skills.

Engineering experience, preferably in high volume, low latency transaction processing systems (such as payments transaction switching, high frequency trading systems or global real time event streaming systems etc.)

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
