About our program:
The Payment Enablement Program provides value-added switching services for Digital, Commercial, and Authorization products. This is accomplished by managing PAN attributes within the Account Catalog (formerly AMS/SSI) and performing cryptography validation on Switching transactions via Switching Security (formerly Crypto-Services Platform (CSP)). The program's objective is to offer scalable, resilient, and deployable services across various environments (on-premises or cloud), supporting localisation needs, expanding global reach, and increasing the volume of switched transactions to enhance revenue opportunities for Mastercard.

About the role:
• The Business Operations Organisation is responsible for production readiness of Mastercard products. BizOps Site Reliability Engineers ensure platform stability and health by advocating for run ownership and enabling engineers to develop resilient products. They support developers during application development through operational design, automation, capacity planning, and monitoring to create fault-tolerant and scalable products. They contribute to establishing and maintaining operations standards and promote an agile learning environment.
• The team focuses on software operation, automation, ongoing learning, and daily operational tasks. Operational criteria include availability, capacity, performance, monitoring, self-healing, and deployment automation throughout product delivery. A BizOps SRE brings site reliability principles and supports change and standards across development, quality, release, and product teams.
• Daily operations involve triage and root cause analysis, assessing business impacts and conducting blameless post-mortems. BizOps aims to proactively address issues earlier in the development process, manage production and change activities, enhance customer experience, and maximise application value. The team also addresses risk management and compliance across all environments and streamlines support activities, centralizing communication for internal and external partners.
• The BizOps function aligns Product and Customer priorities with operational requirements. Regular reviews consider both internal processes and feedback from development partners to improve customer experience.

Specific Skills:
Candidates are not expected to have expertise in every area listed, but as a Biz Ops Lead, they will engage with all aspects over their career:
Team Leadership:
• Lead and mentor SRE teams for efficient infrastructure and service operations.
• Maintain a collaborative team environment encouraging continuous learning.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback.
Collaboration:
• Work with development, operations, and product teams to facilitate feature deployment and integration.
• Join architecture discussions to advise on reliability and scalability.
• Provide technical support to other organisational teams.
Operational Readiness Architect:
• Primary contact for application health, performance, and capacity.
• Support pre-launch activities (system design consulting, capacity planning, launch reviews).
• Collaborate with development and product teams to set up monitoring and alerting strategies and frameworks aiming for zero downtime during deployment.
Site Reliability Engineering:
• Responsible for application scalability, performance, and resilience.
• Manage incident response and conduct blameless post-mortems while addressing issues holistically to minimize recovery time.
• Automate alerts for proactive issue escalation; work with teams to establish SLOs and enhance reliability.
• Implement and maintain automation tools for efficiency.
DevOps/Automation:
• Address development, automation, and business process challenges. Participate in the full service lifecycle (design, deployment, operation, refinement).
• Support CI/CD pipelines for software promotion and lead DevOps automation practices.
• Increase automation and tooling to reduce manual processes.
ITSM Practices:
• Analyse ITSM activities and communicate operational gaps or concerns to development teams.
• Develop and implement incident response protocols.
• Conduct post-mortems to identify causes and prevention strategies.
• Keep stakeholders informed during incidents.
Monitoring and Metrics:
• Establish and maintain solutions for system monitoring and performance tracking.
• Define metrics to measure reliability and improvement areas.
• Report regularly to senior leadership on system performance.
Continuous Improvement:
• Identify and enact system performance improvements.
• Stay updated on industry trends and technologies to adopt best practices.
• Explore new tools and methods for enhancing SRE functions.
Compliance and Security:
• Ensure systems and processes comply with relevant regulations.
• Apply security best practices to safeguard data.
Training and Development:
• Offer training and development for SRE staff.
• Encourage knowledge sharing and continual learning.

Role Qualifications:
Strong candidates will have experience in several of these areas:
• Previous people leadership experience is advantageous.
• Experience with global operations or similar teams.
• Demonstrated process improvements aligned with Business Operations goals (Automation, Toil reduction, CI/CD, XLR).
• Understanding event-driven architectures (AXON, NGFT, Event Gateway).
• Knowledge of monitoring and logging best practices (Splunk, Dynatrace, App Logging standards).
• Familiarity with ITSM concepts (CRQs, PBIs, INCs, WOs, PLL, ICRB).
• Strong communication abilities.
• Ability to share knowledge and mentor team members.
