Our Summer Intern program is a 10-week comprehensive program that offers exposure to multiple business areas and practices, and potential for a Graduate role in our Launcher program. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience in a real work environment while contributing to the department's objectives. You will also be tasked with completing projects that will enhance your skills and knowledge relevant to the Information Security Engineer role.

Job Description
The Security Operations team is looking for a Monitoring and Response Analyst Intern to provide quality control of our program and support analysts within our cybersecurity defense operations. The ideal candidate is passionate about information security and technology, highly motivated, analytical, and a team player. The role requires a strong understanding of cutting-edge technology and/or information security principles, analytical thinking, prioritization, and a team-first mentality.

In this role, you will:
• Demonstrate an ability to support security functions within SOC, such as SIEM, Firewalls, IDS/ IPS, DLP, email protection, anti-virus, malware analysis, etc.
• Utilise various security technologies to identify alerts, prioritize and investigate security issues in a fast-paced environment.
• Create dashboards and reports to support internal security audits.
• Contribute to maintaining the knowledge base by updating procedural documentation. Actively participate in process improvement with global SOC analysts.
• Work on projects with members of the Corporate Security team.
• Participate in social events with other Mastercard interns.
• Deliver a presentation on learnings at the end of the program.

Requirements
• Currently in a bachelor's degree program majoring in Cybersecurity or a related field, with expected graduation in 2026.
• Analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills
• Strategic thinker with the ability to derive and translate data analytics to meet business goals.
• Good understanding of the OSI model, TCP/ IP networks, networking principles, security vulnerabilities, patching, and remediation workflows
• Knowledge of Windows or Unix based Operating Systems
• Understanding of risk management disciplines.
• Willingness to collaborate and learn.
• Curious mindset
• Sound written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to commit to internship period from 2 Dec 2024 to 31 Jan 2025 (Note: start/end dates cannot be negotiated).
