Overview
The Switching Solutions team is looking for a passionate, collaborative and experienced Director of Technical Program Management that will provide innovative, secure, and reliable delivery of solutions for Mastercard transaction switching systems. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated reliable leader, a collaborator capable of communicating effectively across business and technology stakeholders and an innovator who embraces, adopts and studies the latest technology trends in program and project management practices.

Role
• Lead the intake, planning, execution, and delivery of complex technology initiatives spanning multiple products and programs within each release cycle, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and delivery timelines.
• Drive alignment across engineering and program leadership by overseeing capacity planning, validating delivery estimates, and ensuring teams are positioned to meet strategic commitments and release objectives.
• Partner cross-functionally with business analysts, engineering, and business operations to manage program intake and execution, identify and track interdependencies, proactively mitigate risks, and remove obstacles to enable consistent, high-quality delivery.
• Provide clear and consistent executive-level communication by monitoring program health, synthesizing project and release status, and delivering actionable insights to senior leadership and key stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
• Lead, mentor, and scale a global team of program and project managers, including first-line leaders, fostering a culture of accountability, operational excellence, and coordinated delivery across multiple concurrent initiatives.
• Define and champion the strategic vision for the program management organization, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives and continuously evolving delivery frameworks, processes, and governance to support long-term organizational success.

• Brings deep knowledge of the payments industry, Mastercard ecosystem, or the broader financial services landscape, with an understanding of how technology delivery enables business outcomes.
• Operates with a high degree of independence and accountability, exercising sound judgment and ownership across program delivery and release management practices.
• Builds strong organizational relationships and effectively influences stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership, while establishing credibility across cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrates strong people leadership by attracting, developing, and retaining top talent while creating an environment that supports growth, accountability, and high performance.
• Has significant experience delivering large, complex technical programs spanning multiple teams or initiatives, with measurable impact on organizational priorities.
• Applies continuous improvement methodologies to optimize delivery frameworks, operational processes, and team efficiencies.
• Possesses strong expertise in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies, understanding when and how to apply each approach based on business and technical needs.
• Facilitates large, cross-program ceremonies and leadership discussions, driving alignment, clear expectations, and successful delivery outcomes.
• Makes thoughtful, data-driven decisions, including evaluating risks, managing trade-offs, and resolving escalations in dynamic environments.
• Leverage emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, enhance program management practices, improve operational efficiency, and support more informed decision-making.

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more. Mastercard benefits for interns generally include: 56 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time; jury duty leave; and on-site fitness facilities in some locations.

Pay Ranges

O'Fallon, Missouri: $152,000 - $258,000 USD
