Title and Summary
Data Engineer II Overview:Mastercard's Test & Learn team is seeking a Data Engineer II to contribute to the data management, application development for delivering Test & Learn and other innovative solutions within the Services group. In this role, you will automate the building of robust data pipelines, implement scalable data solutions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Additionally, you will help foster a high-performance, collaborative workplace culture.
This hybrid position is based in Arlington, VA, requiring three days per week onsite.
The Test & Learn team within Mastercard's Services organization aims to build industry-leading business experimentation software that brings sophisticated analytic techniques to business users around the world. We are rapidly expanding our product offerings and innovating how we deliver Test & Learn solutions to our clients.
Engineers work in small, flexible teams. Every team member contributes to designing, building, and testing features. There are no rigid organizational structures, and each team uses processes that work best for team members and projects.
Role:
• Enhance and automate data pipelines by developing and improving applications that streamline and maintain ETL processes for a global client base.
• Manage, optimize, and ensure the performance, and reliability of data pipelines on SQL Server databases.
• Design and implement high-performance data features that enable efficient data processing and retrieval to support critical business decisions.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code that adheres to industry best practices.
• Regularly participate in code reviews and promote a culture of high standards and continuous improvement within the team.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and product teams to tackle complex data challenges, contributing to the development of robust solutions that ensure the highest level of data integrity and quality.
All Abut You:
• Experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of data engineering concepts and methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of writing and optimizing SQL queries to retrieve, manipulate, and analyze data efficiently.
• Familiarity with at least one scripting language (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
• Expertise and hands-on experience with RDBMS technologies, preferably with Microsoft SQL Server, and .Net.
• Familiarity with ETL frameworks and the ability to design, implement, and maintain data pipelines.
• Understanding of data modeling concepts and database design to support scalable data solutions.
• Ability to analyze and troubleshoot data issues and provide solutions with minimal supervision.
• Basic knowledge of testing and validating data to ensure accuracy and consistency in data pipelines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
