Schedule: Per Diem Description Join a high functioning nursing team that practices evidence-based Patient and Family Centered Care in an interdisciplinary team model. The RN provides care consistent with the mission and goals of assisting patients in the recovery process and providing for a safe milieu through alliance building with patients. After orientation, the position shares charge nurse responsibilities with other experienced nurses. The RN charge nurse leads the staff by planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating clinical care. Career development opportunities include participation in shared governance, quality improvement, and pursuit of ANCC Magnet Certification. The Departments of Nursing and Psychiatry are teaching departments that provide clinical placements for all disciplines including nursing students from Boston College. The unit provides general psychiatric care to adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. 2 South Overview The 2 South inpatient unit consists of 24 psychiatric beds. The inpatient unit is under the overall supervision and medical direction of the Chief of Psychiatry and Director of Inpatient Psychiatric Nursing. It is a multidisciplinary, full service, therapeutic environment with an eclectic approach. It offers intensive individual, group, family, activity, occupational, and somatic therapies within a therapeutic setting run by a team of nurses, doctors, social workers, psychologists and occupational therapists. Psychological testing and ECT is available when indicated. Our employees call it home. - Bachelor's in nursing is preferred. - Massachusetts Registered Nurse Licensure required. - Certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers required. - A minimum of one year inpatient psychiatry required. - New graduates welcome to apply - The RN candidate has demonstrated an ability to work compassionately with persons who experience behavioral health issues on a secure inpatient psychiatric unit. - Adheres to all I C.A.R.E. standards. - Must show evidence of the basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of patients. - Demonstrate observational skills and the ability to set priorities. - Ability to function under stress with good interpersonal and communication skills.
