Position Summary Prepare for radiologic/cardiology procedures in the cardiac cathlab. Acquires and ensures quality images and maintains safety to minimize radiation for patients and staff. Ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care. Position Responsibilities Unit Specific Position Responsibilities Functions in scrub role, setting up sterile field and assisting physician with procedure. Functions in monitor role, assesses ECG, obtain and record waveforms and pressures. Prepares sterile tray for procedure and ensures aseptic technique and safety practices are followed. Discontinues venous and arterial lines, ongoing monitoring of access site and achieves hemostasis. Responsible for all aspects of radiation safety and ALARA. Qualifications, Knowledge # Experience Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education): Basic Life Support (#BLS) #training, or within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment. Mandatory Reporter training or within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment. Completion of a 24 month American Medical Association approved course in X-ray technology Certification as a Radiologic Technologist by the American registry of radiologic technologists Possession of current Iowa permit to Practice Completion of Basic EKG class or within 1 year of hire. Organizational Requirements: Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements Preferred Qualifications: Advanced cardiac Life Support ACLS Six months experience or additional training in special radiographic procedures or cardiology Required Knowledge, Skills # Experience: Proficient in communication skills. Ability to pursue and foster a sense of team and partnership across all disciplines. Ability to communicate effectively, in English, with diverse population groups. Ability to be self-directed, flexible, and able to adapt to change. Ability to communicate effectively in a professional and tactful manner with physicians, staff, patients and/or their representatives. Ability to read and understand chart documentation. Ability to demonstrate basic computer skills. Ability to read, write and understand the English language. Preferred Knowledge, Skills # Experience: Previous experience in cardiac cathlab, electrophysiology or interventional radiology. Two years Radiologic Technologist Experience
