Job Summary

As a member of the management team, the Manager coordinates food service activities throughout the department. This is a fast paced, hands on position that requires multitasking. The position directly supervises personnel with responsibility for schedules, discipline, performance reviews and accountability. They will also be responsible for development and training of staff, superior sanitation and inspection standards, the flow of the entire kitchen from the patient line to the utility staff, timeliness of patient meals, inspections, and follow up reports to the Director of Nutrition Services.  This position reports to the Director of Nutrition Services.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum Years of Experience: 1 Year of experience in food service supervision in a health care setting
Substitutable Education & Experience: None.
Required Certifications/Licensure: ServSafe certified (will accept certification post-hire within no more than 6 months of hire date)
Required Training: Exceptional skills in meeting production, patient and guest meals, cafeteria, and catering meal demands and schedules.

Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates appropriate communication of information to all ages and responds to all customers/patients requests and needs, i.e. hard of hearing, etc.
  • Assists in maintaining and improving standards of food preparation, room service guidelines, and service. Provides guidance when needed in any way that may improve patient/customer relations.
  • Adheres to safety and sanitation requirements to attain and maintain high standards in accordance with hospital and state regulations.
  • Responsible for recruitment, retainment, and engagement of employees. Participates and oversees training of new employees. Responsible for motivating and evaluating employees.
  • Schedules employees to provide coverage with no scheduled overtime.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Orients, supervises, disciplines, and evaluates personnel.
  • Maintains equipment and facilities in a clean and workable condition at all times.
  • Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement process in the department.
  • Maintenance of an optimistic, professional, career oriented demeanor (positive role model) as leader within your area at Lexington Medical Center. Exemplifies excellent customer relations toward patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers. Holds themselves and subordinates accountable for conformity to Service Excellence Policy.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
