Job Summary

Leonardo DRS EOIS is seeking a Supply Chain Obsolescence & Component Management Specialist to support proactive management of component and material obsolescence across programs.

This role leverages buyer skillsets and supply chain expertise but does not execute purchase orders. Instead, the position focuses on lifecycle monitoring, supplier coordination, risk assessment, and cross-functional decision support related to obsolescence, alternates, last-time buys, and redesign actions.

You will work closely with Engineering, Program Management, Material Program Management (MPM), Category Management, Supplier Quality, and Procurement/Subcontracts teams to ensure EOIS programs remain executable, compliant, and resilient throughout the product lifecycle.

Job Responsibilities

What You Will Do

Obsolescence & Component Management

  • Monitor component lifecycle risk using Silicon Expert and supplier notifications (PCN, EOL, LTB, allocation).
  • Identify and assess obsolescence risk across BOMs, programs, and suppliers.
  • Support evaluation of alternates, second sources, last-time buys (LTB), and redesign options.
  • Coordinate lifecycle risk reviews and facilitate cross-functional alignment on mitigation paths.

Buyer-Aligned Supply Chain Responsibilities (Non-Transactional)

  • Apply buyer and sourcing expertise to assess availability, lead time, supplier constraints, and risk, without executing POs.
  • Coordinate with Procurement to support approved sourcing or LTB actions.
  • Engage suppliers for lifecycle status, availability windows, and technical data.
  • Support supplier qualification activities in coordination with Supplier Quality and Engineering.

Cross-Functional Program Support

  • Provide lifecycle risk inputs to Program Managers and MPMs for cost, schedule, and risk assessments.
  • Support ECO/ECP planning by providing material and supplier impact analysis.
  • Assist in preparation of customer communications, ECPs, and program risk reporting related to obsolescence.
  • Participate in design reviews (PDR, CDR, PRR, SRR) to support lifecycle risk awareness.

Data, Documentation & Governance

  • Ensure lifecycle data and BOM content are accurately reflected in Silicon Expert (Engineering-owned data).
  • Maintain obsolescence documentation, analysis, and decision records in approved repositories.
  • Support audit readiness and compliance with internal procedures (OP-1030, OP-1695, WI-1658, etc.).
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of EOIS obsolescence management processes and tools.

What This Role Does Not Do

  • Does not issue purchase orders
  • Does not perform transactional buying
  • Does not replace Buyer or Subcontract Administrator roles

This position complements Buyers by owning lifecycle risk and obsolescence strategy upstream of procurement execution

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Buying, Procurement, or Material Management in a regulated or manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of BOM structures, lifecycle concepts, supplier management, and material planning.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Strong collaboration skills across Engineering, Supply Chain, and Program teams.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting DMSMS / Obsolescence Management in defense or aerospace.
  • Familiarity with Silicon Expert or similar lifecycle tools.
  • Experience working with Engineering Change processes (ECO/ECP).
  • Understanding of government contracting and sustainment environments.
  • Prior Buyer experience (transactional or strategic).
