The Leonardo DRS Land Electronics business provides C4I Network computing and integrated situational awareness, as well as state-of-the-art embedded diagnostics, vehicle power management and combat vehicle integration products and services.

Job Summary

This Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Engineer will provide software quality technical expertise and perform oversight through all software lifecycle phases from requirements definition through verification and release. This engineer works closely with engineering teams to ensure all software systems are properly defined, tested, configuration managed, and deployed to the customer with exceptional standards of quality. This engineer will also be responsible for process audits that cover many additional facets of project and program execution. The successful candidate will have excellent people and technical skills for interfacing with various engineering teams and interacting with management to conduct audits and implement corrective actions. A good understanding of software development life cycles that align with CMMI Capability Level 3 and Agile Development is desirable.

Job Responsibilities
  • Participates in test planning, procedure development, and test execution to verify product design or validate functional operation in the intended environment.
  • Includes documentation of results for use in formal reports.  
  • Involved with the verification and validation of new and/or existing systems/sub-systems. 
  • Review system requirements to ensure the flow down of software requirements is complete.
  • Review software test plans and procedures against requirements.
  • Witness execution of software qualification and acceptance tests to ensure tests are executed in accordance with the plans and procedures. 
  • Ensure all software test anomalies are documented and tracked to closure.
  • Perform process audits across all product development disciplines to assure compliance to established policies, procedures, and program specific plans.
  • Support or participate in program/project level milestone reviews and IPT meetings. 
  • Facilitate/perform thorough Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) on major findings and ensure appropriate corrective and preventive actions are developed and implemented in a timely manner.
  • Participate in bid and proposal efforts to provide cost estimates.
  • Develop and implement improvements to established software development and SQA processes to maintain existing SEI CMMI Capability Level 3 certification.  
  • Use software development tools like GitLab, JIRA, Excel, and Labwindows to test, verify testing, archive results,  and systems monitoring.
  • Demonstrate strong collaboration and communication skills to foster efficient workflow.  Develop and deliver metrics and reports as needed.
  • Completion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirements
  • Moderate travel depending on program support. 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or related technical field preferred, or 3+ years of relevant engineering/technician experience in a DoD environment. 
  • Excellent people and technical skills are required to coordinate with various software teams and interact with management.
  • Familiarity/Experience with code repositories (Subversion, Git, JIRA, and similar tools).
  • Work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
  • Ability to connect in-person, in writing, and remotely to actively listen and perceive the needs, values or opinions of other team members.
  • Demonstrated leadership accomplishments professionally and personally.
  • Quality Auditor experience in technologies and application domain.
  • U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
