Job Summary

DRS Land Systems is seeking a full time Software Engineer Level III. This position provides technical and analytical work to develop, design, and/or support both our tactical development and our tactical network development across multiple defense industries.  Duties include maintaining Linux and Windows servers, our software development tools, administering and updating our Windows embedded environments and configuring the network switches we use in our tactical systems.  The selected candidate will work with engineering disciplines and use their software development expertise to create a robust technial solutions across multiple technology areas. 

 

Job Responsibilities
  • Maintain our Linux and Windows servers that we use in development of our tactical products.
  • Administer, maintain, and develop, the Linux embedded images we use.
  • Administer, update, and configure Windows embedded environments (PE, iot, etc).
  • Maintain and update our common development environments (including CI/CD).
  • Administer and Maintain our internal Software development tools (such as Gitlab, Jenkins, Fortify, etc.)
  • Maintain our development tools (Yocto, Docker images, VMs)
  • Configure the network switches and update the firmware that we use in the tactical systems that we sell.
  • Develop and document the processes needed to support the environments that are created.
  • Specify and evaluate supplier software and hardware.
  • Ability to complete a technical project independently. Review specifications and requirements, and develop designs to best support them
  • Provide budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments
  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
  • Provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
  • Lead and direct the work of others as assigned
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings
Job Responsibilities Part II Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 5 years of experience
  • IT Configuration management experience.
  • Linux System Administration experience
  • Experience in Administrating and Maintaining software development tools (such as GitLab, Jenkins, Fortify, etc.)
  • Experience in Administering, updating, and configuring Windows embedded environments (PE, IOT, etc.).
  • Familiarity with containerization and virtualization.
  • Experience in configuring managed switches
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work well in a team environment as well as independently with little day-to-day guidance
  • Demonstrates an ambition to learn
  • Willing to travel up to 10% as necessary

 U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
