Job Summary

DRS Infrared Sensors and Systems in Dallas, Texas specializes as a worldwide leader in thermal imagery and sensory solutions for commercial and military applications.

We are looking to add a new member to our Focal Plane Array team to help provide the vision and technical expertise necessary to drive our development activities needed to lead the industry in product capability and manufacturability.

We are looking for someone who can develop and/or improve Mount processes related to mounting die on wafers who will consistently drive to push our processing technology and manufacrturability beyond its current capability.

Qualifications and Required Skills
  • Education: Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related technical field or equivalent of education and experience
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience with fluency in technologies and applications domain.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
Job Responsibilities
  • Provide the vision for the future of process development/improvement activities needed to lead in product capability and manufacturabiliy in the mount area.
  • Sustain and improve current and develop new processes in the mount area.
  • Consistently drive our processing technology beyond its current capabilities and robustness
  • Lead and complete projects on schedule and budget
  • Provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
  • Mentor less experienced engineers
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Self-starter with excellent verbal communication and documentation skills.
  • Must have the ability to work autonomously as well as in a team environment with minimal direction/supervision.
  • Support solving complex equipment and material related issues, as well as assuming responsibility for identifying problems and implementing corrective action.
  • Hands-on experience of package assembly, including programming and process development for automated and semi-automated equipment.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are within calibration and maintenance requirements.
  • Provide technical assistance to engineers and support personnel. 
  • Proficiency with electronic instruments and test equipment.

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge base of processes used to mount die/bars to wafers.
  • Experience with a variety of wafer bonding/die bonding systems and processes.
  • Strong knowledge of epoxies and there flow and curing characteristics.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with programming and operation of Pick and Place sytems.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Palomar Pick and Place systems a plus.
  • Familiarity with modifying and improving equipment capabilities in a controlled manner.
  • Experience with and understanding of the proper implementation and use of statistical process control techniques
  • Experience with data collection and databases
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational skills and the ability to document and communicate plans, experiments, progress, and results
  • Ability to write Operation Specifications for Equipment and Processes in a clear and concise manner.
